Description of the model:
The model shows a typical posture of the Nuthatch. It has the ability, like other nuthatches, to climb down trees, unlike species such as woodpeckers which can only go upwards.
Susanne Henssen made the model.
The model was cast using high quality polyester resin, reinforced with glassfibres. It was coloured using non-fade paint and varnish. We use glass eyes.

‘Forest dweller; preferring mature deciduous trees; also in parks, gardens, normally not above 1500 m altitude.’ 2)

Further Informations
It “skilfully pries off the bark to catch the insects underneath. Searches all crevices and cracks. Unsociable, usually lives in pairs; in winter, however, also in mixed flocks of tits, goldcrests and treecreepers. Eats many seeds in winter.” 2)
It breeds in tree crevices or nest cavities abandoned by other birds. The entrance is walled up with a mixture of clay and saliva, except for a hole.
