Further Informations
Geckos walk upside down on the ceiling, on mirror-smooth surfaces and their individual toes have enormous adhesive power. The reason for this are nanometer-fine hairs under the soles of the feet, which also split into countless bulges and thus extremely increase the surface area of the soles. We have shown these ridges in our model. They use a physical effect and are considered by bionics experts to be a miracle of nature when it comes to liability. The model is based on an original gecko foot from Phelsuma sp.
