Description of the model:
The tactile model is made of plastic. Different water levels can be represented by acrylic glass discs. Transportable in a wooden box, the model can be carried or taken into the field on a trolley.

Further Informations
The model was developed in co-operation with Hildegard Coenen of the Eifel National Park and the visually impaired association of the district of Kleve. The aim is to have a transportable model of a beaver landscape available for visually impaired excursions into the national park. Visually impaired people cannot visualise the landscape as a whole, even if they can touch trees felled by beavers, the beaver as a specimen and other things. The beaver dam with the resulting different water levels and the beaver lodge with the entrance under water remain hidden from them. The model shows the landscape in a very simplified way for the sighted, but for the visually impaired it shows all the necessary structures and features without confusing them.
