Phyllum: Cnidarians
Class: Anthozoa
Subclass: Hexacorallia
Order: Scleractinia (hard corals or stone corals)
Reconstructed by Susanne Klein.
It was casted using high quality epoxy resin, coloured with florescent colours and reinforced with glassfibres.
It was coloured using florescent paint. The colour looks different during daylight and (ultraviolet) black light. This florescent effect of the colour shows a natural appearance of some recent corals, which offers special effects in your exhibition. Who knows, if prehistoric corals weren't as spectacular as today's corals even by night.
The model is hollow. Because of its irregular shape it is possible to cut the model in different parts, which may show different colonies for example in an artificial coral reef.
